The NSF Unidata THREDDS development team is happy to announce the release of version 5.10.0 of the netCDF-Java/Common Data Model (CDM) library. This release contains a number of enhancements, bug fixes, and 3rd party dependency updates. New features include support for Blosc compression, object storage support for feature collections (primarily focused on GRIB), and the generation of Software Bill of Materials (SBOMs) for uber-jars (e.g., netcdfAll, ncIdv, toolsUI) using the CycloneDX standard.
The NSF Unidata THREDDS development team released the THREDDS Data Server (TDS) version 5.7 on September 23rd, 2025. This release contains a number of security upgrades to third party libraries, a variety of bug fixes, and several new features and improvements. It is recommended that all TDS users upgrade to this version.
The netCDF-Java 5.9.1 release had an issue where the toolsUI jar was missing a critical properties file, preventing the application from launching. This has been fixed in a new toolsUI-only release, v5.9.1.1, available on the NSF Unidata netCDF-Java downloads page and GitHub. Additionally, netCDF-Java command-line utilities and toolsUI are now available via conda-forge thanks to community efforts!
