Who We Are
NSF Unidata is a community of education and research institutions vested in the common goal of sharing data, tools to access the data, and software to analyze and visualize the data.
Academic and Research Institutions
At the heart of NSF Unidata are participating institutions engaged in teaching and research activities. Members of the NSF Unidata community interact in a variety of ways, from relaying data via the Internet Data Distribution system to participating in open source development efforts, by serving on NSF Unidata's advisory committees or using NSF Unidata software packages in the classroom.
Agency Partners
NSF Unidata works closely with U.S. Government agencies including the National Weather Service and other NOAA offices, NASA, and the U.S. Geological Survey. These collaborations help make resources created by the agencies more widely available to our core community of academic and research institutions.
NSF Unidata Program Center
The NSF Unidata Program Center, located on the UCAR campus in Boulder, Colorado, is home to a dedicated team of software developers, learning specialists, data experts, and community support staff. You can see a list of our current personnel in the Staff Listing, and see how our we organize ourselves in Staff Working Groups.
