Lightning Data

Vaisala offers data from the National Lightning Detection Network (NLDN) to universities over the Internet. These data are available for education and research, under constraints established by Vaisala.
Universities interested in receiving the NLDN data should begin by submitting a request to Vaisala: Request for Vaisala Lightning Data for Research Use

Description
The Vaisala National Lightning Detection Network (NLDN) detects real-time lightning events that covers the entire continental U.S. It delineates between cloud-to-cloud and cloud-to ground strikes for more accurate alert planning, lightning reporting, and damage investigation.
