LDM version 6.9.7

Version 6.9.7 of the Local Data Manager (LDM) was made available on February 1, 2011. This version is recommended for all users. The latest update can be downloaded at https://www.unidata.ucar.edu/downloads/ldm/.

For a list of changes between the 6.9.0 version and the current version, see the Change Log.

Note that the LDM installer was upgraded for the 6.9 release, and has a slightly different layout and procedure. See the Installation Instructions for additional details.

THREDDS Data Server 4.2.4

The THREDDS Data Server version 4.2.4 was made available as the stable release on February 22, 2011. This version is recommended for all users, including production servers. The latest update can be downloaded at https://www.unidata.ucar.edu/downloads/thredds.

Version 4.2.4 includes the following changes:

  • featureCollection extended to point data
  • ncISO included in distribution (thanks to Dave Neufeld and Ted Habermann, NOAA/NGDC)
  • Added projection EPSG:3857 (used by GoogleMaps) to default CRS list used in WMS GetCapabilities documents
  • Various other bug fixes

CfRadial Extensions for Radar and Lidar Data

A joint team of developers from NCAR's Earth Observing Laboratory (EOL), NCAR's Research Applications Laboratory (RAL), and UCAR's Unidata are defining an extension to the NetCDF Climate and Forecast (CF) metadata convention. The CfRadial proposal specifies a CF-compliant NetCDF format for radar and lidar moments data in radial (i.e. polar) coordinates.
