[IDV #AZB-644807]: IDV - Error WRF contour plot BASE STATE PRESSURE

Hi Eric-

The processing it will take to compute MSLP from the WRF grids in the
IDV is not worth the trouble. The real solution is to have the WRF-POST
as part of the LEAD workflow and have it calculate the standard variables
and pressure levels that meteorologists are used to working with.

 Contours of 2-m temperature work fantastic, so&nbsp;the&nbsp;error I
reported&nbsp;obviously resides in the model output, not necessarily in
IDV.&nbsp; Maybe the BASE STATE PRESSURE is a constant, which would obviously
make contouring this field virtually impossible.&nbsp;

No, it's probably something else. :-(

Thanks for the help, though.&nbsp; IDV's assisted me tremendously in my
undergraduate pursuit of an understanding of atmospheric dynamics.&nbsp; It all
started when you gratefully offered a workshop at MU during the summer
'04.&nbsp; I think many more people would use IDV if it were faster; however, I
acknowledge that IDV's sophisticated capabilities make this hard to come
by.&nbsp; I have 2 GB RAM on my laptop; IDV appears to use only 533 MB.&nbsp;
Is there an easy way to allot more RAM for IDV?&nbsp; Would this drastically
increase the performance of IDV?&nbsp; Thanks again for your help; it's truly
appreciated here at MU!</P>

We're always working to improve performance, but sometimes it's
not reasonable to expect a desktop based system to display a grid that
took a cluster to compute. As for increasing the memory through webstart,
that can be problematic. Where is the JNLP link you use? Is it one
you get through the LEAD workflow or do you just use the standard one?

Can you send me a bundle that just points to the data file with no
displays? Tom Baltzer thought I should be able to get to the file
that way.
