[IDD #AKV-360208]: LDM connection problem

Hi again Carl,

After further thinking about the problems you are having, it dawned
on me that the DNS for your machine, edex.gina.alaska.edu, is
does not contain the machine's external IP address. Here is the
full output from the 'nslookup' that I just ran:

% nslookup edex.gina.alaska.edu
Server: 192.168.17.2
Address: 192.168.17.2#53

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: edex.gina.alaska.edu
Address: 10.19.16.187

A 10.x.x.x address is non-routable. Try the following set of search terms
in a Google search: 'non routable ip addresses' (whithout the ', of course).

It seems to me that some change to DNS was made, and that is the root
cause of your problem feeding from our top level IDD relays.

As I said in my previous email, if, for some unknown reason, reverse DNS
can not be setup for your machine, we can "hardwire" a (brittle) workaround,
but we will need the public IP address of your machine to do so.

Cheers,

Tom
