I'm assuming you downloaded the data from NCDC.  In addition to being
tar'ed into one file for download, each volume scan is compressed.
Did you uncompress each file before trying to read them into the
IDV? (This will be in the FAQ for the next release).  If so, could
you put one of your files out on an FTP server for me to look at?

Also, I would avoid trying to do an isosurface or volume display
with many time steps as performace will be severely degraded.
