ACTION REQUIRED: NEXRAD Level II Maintenance Notification (Thursday, August 10th) (RDS)

The ROC will be changing the IP address of the RDS server on Thursday, August 10, 2023. This is not a change to the NL2 system or software, but rather a network device beyond our control.

Start Time: 10:00 AM (CDT) (15:00 UTC) Thursday, August 10, 2023
Duration: 30 minutes
Event: IP address change (RDS/Norman)
Location: Radar Operations Center, Norman, OK

Clients must change the IP address of RDS to continue receiving data. We recommend that clients use the dns name (rds.nexrad.noaa.gov), where possible. You may begin using the dns name now, and do not have to wait until August 10. If an IP address is required on your system, please update LDM configurations to reflect the new address shown below on the coordinated date.

RDS current IP address: x.x.24.16
RDS new IP address: x.x.117.79

Please keep BOTH NL2 connections (TDS/Ashburn & RDS/Norman) up to avoid data flow interruption. The TDS/Ashburn is not affected by this maintenance action.  No change is required to continue to receive data from the TDS.

If you have any questions about this change, please contact address@hidden.
