[python #PLC-371608]: Help Script

Hi, and thanks for reaching out.

If you browse Unidata's TDS for the data you're looking for,
https://thredds.ucar.edu/thredds/catalog/grib/NCEP/GFS/Global_0p25deg_ana/catalog.html,
you'll see that we do not archive data long-term. For this particular GFS
data, we only hold on to about a week's worth; your September data are not
available.

You can browse a THREDDS Data Server provided by NOAA NCEI for 0.5 degree GFS
analysis from a bit further back, including your dates:

  https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/thredds/catalog/model-gfs-g4-anl-files/catalog.html

Note that this will require constructing a new TDSCatalog link pointing to the
appropriate dates. You can find an example accessing GFS data on the NCEI TDS
here:
https://unidata.github.io/python-training/gallery/850hpa_temperature_advection/,
though note that this example is very out of date outside of the Siphon code
snippets.

Let us know if you run into any Siphon-related headaches! I hope this helps.

Best,

Drew
