Hi Jane,

Excellent. Since I was hoping that this was the case, I went ahead and
downloaded images for the date ranges for all 10 tropical cyclones
that you listed in a previous email. I then setup ADDE serving of those
images on atm.ucar.edu:
Server: atm.ucar.edu
Dataset: SPACTC
Setup your McIDAS-V/IDV session to look at this dataset on atm.ucar.edu,
and you will see entries for WV and IR images that cover the periods
that you specified.
I just loaded all of the IR images on a Globe display in the IDV
for TC Hettie, and the display looks great! I will work on
creating and publishing bundles for all of the TCs for both
IR and WV tomorrow morning.

While it is possible to average all images over a time period, I
am not sure that this is what you really want to do. Perhaps we
should have a phone conversation tomorrow sometime so that I
have a better understanding of exactly what you are trying to do
and why. Let me know if you are up for discussing this by phone.

Composite VIS images are _NOT_ available, and it would take quite some
time to produce them, and, quite frankly, I think that their usefulness
would be limited. Thermal IR and Water Vapor images are available,
and they are now accessible in the SPACTC dataset on atm.ucar.edu.

Animations are very easy to create, and I think that they demonstrate
the evolution of systems nicely. Again, we need to talk about what you
are trying to accomplish.

I am actually referring to a globe (earth sphere) that one can spin
to see different parts of the earth. When I post a bundle and/or
animated GIF you will get a better idea of what I am talking about.

No worries. I'm glad to help out when possible...
Cheers,
Tom
