Since we are moving to a new way of distributing software, I would much rather you use it to grab the McIDAS-X 7.80 release than FTP. Below is the body of the text I sent announcing the availability of Unidata McIDAS-X 7.80. In the announcement is the procedure for registering as a Unidata user and downloading via the web 7.80. Please let me know if you have any questions or problems with the new procedure. Unidata McIDAS-X Users, Version 7.8 of Unidata McIDAS-X is now available for download by educational institutions worldwide! Even though passworded FTP access is still available, users are strongly encouraged to download the new distribution by using the 'Download Software' link on the Unidata McIDAS-X 7.80 HomePage: Unidata McIDAS-X Version 7.80 http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/packages/mcidas/780/ The web method of package download, which is being developed as the standard for Unidata offerings, requires that you register as a Unidata user before you will be allowed access. The registration process will only take a couple of minutes, so please signup!
