[LDM #UGW-684103]: LDM Server Not Starting

Warren,

> Here is the terminal output:
>
> cd ~ldm
> ls -l
>
> ÂÂÂ total 20
>  lrwxrwxrwx 1 ldm ldm 11 Jun 5 08:32 bin -> runtime/bin
>  drwxr-xr-x 2 ldm ldm 4096 Jun 4 12:09 Desktop
>  drwxrwxr-x 3 ldm ldm 4096 Jun 6 16:41 etc
>  lrwxrwxrwx 1 ldm ldm 15 Jun 5 08:32 include -> runtime/include
>  drwxrwxr-x 7 ldm ldm 4096 Jun 5 08:32 ldm-6.11.7
>  -rw-rw-r-- 1 ldm ldm 0 Jun 6 10:50 ldmd.output
>  lrwxrwxrwx 1 ldm ldm 11 Jun 5 08:32 lib -> runtime/lib
>  drwxr-xr-x 2 ldm ldm 4096 Jun 4 12:09 Public
>  lrwxrwxrwx 1 ldm ldm 10 Jun 5 17:16 runtime -> ldm-6.11.7
>  lrwxrwxrwx 1 ldm ldm 13 Jun 5 08:32 share -> runtime/share
>  lrwxrwxrwx 1 ldm ldm 11 Jun 5 08:32 src -> runtime/src
>  drwxrwxr-x 5 ldm ldm 4096 Jun 5 08:32 var

The contents of the LDM user's home directory look OK.

> ls -lR var
> ÂÂÂ var:
> ÂÂÂ total 12
>  drwxrwxr-x 3 ldm ldm 4096 Jun 6 10:47 data
>  drwxrwxr-x 2 ldm ldm 4096 Jun 6 12:26 logs
>  drwxrwxr-x 2 ldm ldm 4096 Jun 6 08:30 queues
>
> ÂÂÂ var/data:
> ÂÂÂ total 4
>  drwxrwxr-x 3 ldm ldm 4096 Jun 6 10:47 data

Shoot! I forgot about the "data/" directory.

> var/logs:
> total 32
> -rw-rw-r-- 1 ldm ldm 0 Jun 5 16:54 ldmd.log
> -rw-rw-r-- 1 ldm ldm 27002 Jun 6 17:00 metrics.txt

The zero size of the LDM logfile is consistent with the inability of the LDM to
log.

> var/queues:
> total 193252
> -rw-rw-r-- 1 ldm ldm 514121728 Jun 6 16:41 ldm.pq

The LDM product-queue look OK.

> release:ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ 3.8.0-41-generic
> ldmhome:ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ /home/ldm
> LDM version:ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ 6.11.7
> PATH:ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ

You should remove the "/home/ldm/ldm-6.11.7/bin" component from the PATH
environment variable because all LDM utilities should be located through the
"/home/ldm/bin" component, instead.

The output of "ldmadmin config" looks OK.

I don't know why your LDM isn't logging or why ldmadmin(1) doesn't see it start.

Please see about allowing me to log onto the system as the LDM user.
