Hi German,
The problem is that the file paths in the ncml:

> Settings\n00195076\Desktop\LAPS_Grid\LAPS\20040904_0600.nc
Have a leading "C:" and the ncml code is treating those like a URL. If the ncml
is in the same directory as the data files you can just have relative file
names, e.g.:
"20040904_0500.nc"
Also, try running with the latest IDV release:
http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/idv/release/
