I've seen your correspondence with Steve Chiswell about this and just
wanted to comment that the IDV reads GRIB files directly, so instead
of converting to netCDF, you might want to go that route.  If you
have special GRIB parameter tables, those can be added as well.

Are these GEMPAK grids originally from GRIB products or are they
from some diagnostic function.  If the latter, could you explain
what you are doing and perhaps that can be done in the IDV directly.
