20050310: IDV - how to edit a bundle file(.xidv)

on that page, there are one netcdf file and one bundle file(.xidv) available.
"The IDV bundle file is earthquake_demo.xidv. Save this file on your computer. Edit the bundle
file to show the full directory path where your data file "focal_mechanisms_5000_eq.nc" is
located. Running the IDV, do File->Open and select this bundle file. The data will be read the, and
the same display is created that the author of the bundle file saw. "

my question is: how to edit the bundle file to show the path of the netcdf file?

Hi Liu,
A couple of things:
First, we do not encourage users to edit bundle files. I don't know why the GEON group (which uses the IDV but is
not affiliated with Unidata) suggests people edit the bundle files.

Also - if you are using the GEON bundle files and data you will also need to be using the GEON version of the
IDV.

Now, that said, the bundle file (the .xidv) is an xml file. If you *really* want to edit this file just bring it up in a text editor. However, as noted above we do not encourage users to do this. The bundle file is an xml representation of the
Java objects that make up the state of the IDV.
