20031024: I cannot Get the IDV to work at all

Anthony,

Glad you want to use the IDV! Thanks for sending the details of your
hardware. It should be fine to run the IDV. Please tell me what
operating system you are using, and how you download, install, and start
the IDV - Web Start or an installer file. Do you see anything in the
console, or get any error messages? It's interesting you can see some
satellite but nothing in 3D. Many people are using the IDV with no
trouble but with all the hardware and software options sometimes there
is a snag. I recently helped another IDV user with a similar problem.
Have you tried getting the very latest ATI video driver with 3D support
(to work with OpenGL)? Windows system include this.

If you are on a Linux system:
1. please send your file /etc/X11/XF86Config-4
2. in /var/log, do 'grep ATI XFree86.0.log' and send me what you find
3. send us the output of both glxinfo and xdpyinfo commands

We are trying to make the IDV work on all Linux systems so your help and
patience with this matter is very much appreciated.

Stuart Wier
