Heiko,

Only a quick answer for now. We are working towards the next official
release in a few days. I will spend time on your questions as soon as
possible.

I have also seen some problems as you describe in the Linux
InstallAnywhere IDV, though the our software is exactly the same for
every operating system and installation method.
Java and other software varies of course depending on operating system,
video cards etc. 

After the new release I suggest you try the Linux version with the Web
Start installation and see if the same problems appear.

About your questions in particular:

this sounds like a VisAD problem, display software we use. However the

Missing buttons have been noted in other Linux InstallAnywhere
installations; but not in WebStart installations.

This is completley new to us; we have never had a case of geographically
shifted data that we know of, and the mapping software is over 2 years
old.  This is clearly an important matter and I will give it real
concern.

This is an old bug we thought was fixed.

Again, I will be able to work on these matters in a few days after our
official
release. 

When testing our new version, before our official release, I will look
for all these problems. I will send you notice of the release, and I
suggest you try the new version, using Web Start as well as
InstallAnywhere installers. We ought to be able to get a version that
works on both Windows and Linux for you.
