20030320:IDV memory

There may be an error in our automatic IDV startup information,
but so far as I know all the methods specify 500 MB or more.
We never would set up the IDV to run with less than 256 MB,
expect by mistake.

Please tell us exactly how you start the IDV.

How are you running the IDV?

please say exactly as follows -

1. Web Start - please send the URL you are pointing to to
start the IDV from Web Start.

2. InstallAnywhere installer files - please say which file you used.

3. Running directly from a jar file. I suspect you are not
   running the IDV this way.

I can also tell that you spend much time going over documents and requirements
<br>than actually running the IDV software .... Try running the IDV software
(Beta-5)
<br>on windows and then answer my questions.... Sometimes the documents
and
<br>requirements are a reflection of the product when it is totally completed
and not
<br>in its "beta" phase... I would definitely suggest running IDV (as well
as reading the
<br>documents) and make sure that the specs are in agreement with the written
word
<br>and reality...

<p>That's not the point... I have over 500 MB of memory but IDV only allocates
<br>itself 66MB maximum... (for some reason)..

<blockquote TYPE=CITE>FYI, I've attached a "snapshot" of&nbsp; a condition
where IDV runs out of memory
<br>after a number of displays.... Even though the display is "removed"
each time,
<br>(before another image is displayed), the memory keeps accumulating
until it
<br>gets close to 100% (or over 66 MB) and then crashes.....

<br>(and in the User's Guide in the IDV) specify that
<br>"an Intel system running IDV have at least a 1.2 GHz processor and
512 MB memory
<br>(RAM)"
<br>free for the IDV.
<p>If you only have 66 MB free the IDV will quickly run out of memory.
<p>How are you running the IDV?&nbsp; Our IDV Web Start jnlp files
<br>specify, I believe, at least 500 MB at startup.
