AWIPS can also handle AREA files.

Well, they are hosed as it is with no GINI, but I take your point.

I'm thinking that the images would be put into NIMAGE or UNIWISC.  They would
definitely not go in EXP or SPARE.

No worries.  I'm glad you pinged me about the ldm-users traffic ... I'm immersed
in trying to find a bug in my McIDAS v2017 distribution and updating my McIDAS
v2017 documentation at the same time...
