20050310: NIMAGE feed request

Mike,

The NIMAGE feed contains the remapped GOES imagery from NOAAPORT
in the GINI format. The images are zlib compressed by NWS for transmission.
GEMPAK is able to read the images as they are in the data stream. Otherwise,
there is a pngg2gini decoder in ldm-mcidas to uncompress the images to their
gini format.

The pqact.conf entry I provide for FILE'ing the data for GEMPAK is in
$NAWIPS/ldm/etc/templates/pqact.gempak_images. The pngg2gini pattern
would be found in the ldm-mcidas examples.

You can request the NIMAGE feed from idd.unidata.ucar.edu.

The remapped images are in LCC, STR or CED projections. Most match existing
grid projections that NWS provides for AWIPS. If you have specific questions
about what imagery is available let me know.
