If you will be viewing the data via GEMPAK then using the decoders in the
gempak directory is appropriate.

Correct, you can have whatever queue size you desire:

and old data does get written over as new data arrives, you may wish to
monitor your data volumes to determine the most appropriate queue size you
desire...we at UCAR, since we handle ALL the data, have our queue at 2GB..
