Version 1.2.0 of MetPy, a collection of tools in Python for reading, visualizing, and performing calculations with weather data, has been released. The project aims to mesh well with the rest of the scientific Python ecosystem, including the Numpy, Scipy, and Matplotlib projects, adding functionality specific to meteorology. This release includes a variety of new features and enhancements, as well a variety of fixes for issues encountered by users.
A new minor release (version 18.2.1-4) of AWIPS EDEX has been made for Linux servers. No changes have been made to CAVE since the 18.2.1-3 release, however the version for Linux has been updated to 18.2.1-4.
The Unidata THREDDS development team released netCDF-Java 5.5.2 on January 5th, 2022; this release addresses an issue discovered in version 5.5.1 for users running JDK 8. Artifacts from the 5.5.2 release can be obtained from our artifacts server following these instructions. ToolsUI and netCDFAll can be obtained from the downloads section of the Unidata website.
In March of 2021, the Unidata Program Center made the community aware that it no longer had software development resources available to support the continued use and evolution of GEMPAK. Following discussions with community members, Unidata published A Proposal for Community Support of GEMPAK, laying out some history of the package and the support situation, and proposing a way forward. This post describes the current situation and includes information about the most current community supported release.
AWIPS 18.2.1-3 is a new release to both EDEX and CAVE (on Windows, MacOS, and Centos7/RHEL7). This release of EDEX has several new features and bug fixes including:

In response to vulnerabilities in the log4j library, the THREDDS development team has released new versions of the TDS 4.6.x and 5.x. TDS 4.6.19 and TDS 5.3 user log4j 2.17.0, and address CVE-2021-44228, CVE-2021-45046, and CVE-2021-45105.
The Unidata THREDDS development ream released netCDF-Java 5.5.1 on December 20th, 2021. In addition to several bug fixes and dependency upgrades, this is the first version of netCDF-Java that has read support for the Zarr data model.
