Due to the current gap in continued funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), the NSF Unidata Program Center has temporarily paused most operations. See NSF Unidata Pause in Most Operations for details.
Hi Gilbert, I don't have any inside details on what happened, but there were a handful of ADMs on the matter, including: NOUS42 KWNO 200822 ADASDM SENIOR DUTY METEOROLOGIST NWS ALERT ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE NWS NCEP CENTRAL OPERATIONS COLLEGE PARK MD 0821Z SAT MAR 20 2021 ...SBN INGEST RESTORED... SBN is back online and data is flowing again. Data sent while SBN was offline (0700Z-0800Z) can not be re-queued. Gerhardt/SDM/NCO/NCEP Other IDP/NIDS applications failed in various ways at the same time as well, so something bigger than just noaaport happened. daryl -- /** * daryl herzmann * Systems Analyst III -- Iowa Environmental Mesonet * https://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu */ ________________________________________ From: ldm-users <ldm-users-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> on behalf of Gilbert Sebenste <gilbert@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, March 20, 2021 11:16 AM To: LDM; NOAAPORT Subject: [ldm-users] NOAAport outage last night Last night, between approximately1:40 AM and 2:50 AM CT (6:40Z-7:50Z), there was a complete NOAAport outage. Looking at the RTSTATS page, UNIDATA's satellite receiver clearly showed the data loss: https://rtstats.unidata.ucar.edu/cgi-bin/rtstats/iddstats_vol_nc?IDS|DDPLUS+uni14.unidata.ucar.edu Our AllisonHouse satellite ingester instantly flatlined to a signal strength and Carrier to Noise (C/N) of zero during this time. I noticed that NWS sent out a test message after the outage was over under the admin header of NOUS42 KWNO. However, I don't see any admin messages on what was going on, or that it came back up Does anyone know what happened? Gilbert -- ---- Gilbert Sebenste Consulting Meteorologist AllisonHouse, LLC
