Re: [ldm-users] GOES-16 to GOES East switchover

All-

Many of you may be aware that all of the netcdf4 files are available from
several sources, including AWS. Brian Blaylock here has a bunch of info on
how to download and then decipher them.

To get files from AWS:
http://home.chpc.utah.edu/~u0553130/Brian_Blaylock/cgi-bin/goes16_download.cgi

(go back to October to download some images)

He also created an archive of the 2km data on our campus HPC system

http://home.chpc.utah.edu/~u0553130/Brian_Blaylock/cgi-bin/goes16_pando.cgi

(ditto go back to before they turned GOES-16 off)

Getting the images isn't the hassle, it's how to process them. Here's his
step-by-step instructions using python.

https://github.com/blaylockbk/pyBKB_v2/blob/master/BB_
GOES16/mapping_GOES16_data.ipynb

He is cc'd, so don't ask me anything, ask him....

His pando archive with little thumbnail images computed is really nice.

Regards

john
