I think I need more clarification on what's not working.  I was able to get
WXP 5 and 6 to display the grids from the 3h GFS 0.5 degree GRIB2 data.

gridplot -ft=3hr-3acc -va=prec  ../../GRIB/GFS/fh.0003_tl.press_gr.0p5deg
-cof=prec2.cfl -pl=cf -com=white -ge=900x500 -pa=lab:0,bar

contour ../../GRIB/GFS/fh.0003_tl.press_gr.0p5deg+3:sfc:prec:in -pl=cf
-cof=prec.cfl -pp=lab:0 -cocm=white -de=d
