Re: [galeon] How to map a parameterized projection to an EPSG code

HI,

It should be noted that the assignment of EPSG codes is a governance
issue and that these codes CAN ONLY BE ASSIGNED by the registration
authority, namely the OGP (formerly the EPSG). They are not codes that
anyone can assign.

Hi Ethan,

ISO 19111-2 ("Geographic information - Spatial referencing by
coordinates - Part 2: Extension for parametric values") is currently a
DIS (Draft International Standard), which is the final step before
becoming full ISO standard. Voting due by end of year, unlikely to be
any hiccups.

This was proposed by UK precisely in order to be able to handle sigma
levels, density, pressure coordinates etc.

Regards,
Andrew
