Thanks!

Hmm... You asked me this previously, and I thought that I had sent you
a detailed reply, but since I can't find that reply, I will assume that
it got lost somehow. Apologies!
We decided to upgrade our CentOS 6 machines directly to the latest
version of CentOS 8. We did this because CentOS will be supported for
longer than CentOS 7 since CentOS 7 has been out for at least a
couple of years. The exact same comment should apply to RHEL 7 vs
RHEL 8.
All of the machines we have upgraded from CentOS 6 to CentOS 8 are
working nicely, so we do not know of any reason to not upgrade to
CentOS/RHEL 8. Of the machines we have upgraded (via new OS installs,
not 'yum update') is a NOAAPort ingest machine, and it is working
without any problems. In addition, I have worked with two different
NOAA Labs on their NOAAPort setups, and both are running flawlessly
under RHEL 8.
Cheers,
Tom
