[IDV #YAV-659857]: dump transect data

Hi Joseph,

At IDV support, we often get questions like this for users who wish to employ
the IDV to convert data from one format to another. In truth, the IDV is not
really meant to be a data conversion tool. The idea is you bring data into the
IDV and you do your analysis and visualization from within the IDV.

That said, here is what you can do. Click on the legend link for the transect
which will take you to the transect "control". Go to File > Save > Export
Displayed Data to NetCDF. Once you have the data in netCDF format, you can use a
tool like ncdump to convert it to text. These text files could be quite
voluminous depending on your data.

Best,

Unidata IDV Support
