[IDV #EJX-142039]: CONUS shaded relief in IDV



Jim,

In the, perhaps, better late than never category, this topic came up again with
another user. With the help of the USGS, we were able to find a replacement for
this WMS dataset.

It should be available in the IDV nightly tomorrow:

http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/downloads/idv/nightly/index.jsp

Alternatively,

You can find the elevation shaded relief dataset here:

http://basemap.nationalmap.gov/arcgis/services/USGSShadedReliefOnly/MapServer/WMSServer?request=GetCapabilities&service=WMS

Please enter that URL in the IDV Dashboard, Data Choosers tab, under the
Catalogs (not URLs) option. This action will allow you to add this layer as a
data source (click "Add source"). This action will take you to the Field
Selector in the IDV Dashboard. Click Create Display to have your shaded relief
elevation view. You may have to zoom in to actually see the shaded relief.
