It should work with the Netcdf Point Data Files type if the format is
correct.

Did this work in a previous version of the IDV?  We made some changes
going from 1.2b2 to 1.2 which may have caused a problem if this
once worked.

Could you put a sample file out on a web/ftp server for me to 
download?
