First, what link are you clicking on to start the IDV through
webstart? It could be that you are pointing to an old link.

The error indicates that it can't find Java 3D. From webstart, that
should be downloaded automatically, but there are times when webstart
gets confused. Unfortunately, the only solution I know of means
removing and downloading the IDV again. And, there's not guarantee
that it will work. Only do this if you are downloading the IDV
from:

http://my.unidata.ucar.edu/content/software/idv/webstart/IDV/idv.jnlp

- Bring up the webstart manager by opening:

http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/apps/player.jnlp

- If the IDV is not shown in the manager, use the View->
Downloaded Applications menu to show it.

- Click the IDV icon once and then use the Applications->
Remove Application to remove it.

Then, start the IDV from the link above.
