[Datastream #MQU-657040]: L2 products sent in NIMAGE

Hi Ridk,

This is revisiting a previously asked question:

re:
> Do you have something describing the differences in the CMIP product
> from NOAAPORT as opposed to those from STAR?

I was not aware of CMIP products from STAR, but I believe that I have
just had an interaction with a user at the Argentinian Weather Service
that was trying to get GEMPAK to display one of those images. As
part of her inquiry, she sent the file she was trying to use, so I
got to examine its innards (ncdump), and I see that it is more like
the ABI L1b files than the NOAAPort L2 files.

Do you now anything about the CMIP products that STAR is creating?

Do you and/or Jerry think that it is important that support for their
files be incorporated into McIDAS-X?

Cheers,

Tom
