NEXRAD Level II Maintenance Notification - Thurday March 30th, 2017

Radar Operations Center Engineering will be performing a planned maintenance activity to the Level II system.  The activity is an aggregate swap to the ROC Level II cluster.
 
 Start Time: 9:00 AM (Central time) Thursday March 30th, 2017
 Duration: 30 minutes
 Event: Aggregation swap to the ROC Servers
 
 The activity is anticipated to take about 30 minutes to complete and will effect data flow of the "Both Level II Paths" for up to 5 minutes while the ROC negotiates Level II connections to each NEXRAD site.
 
 The Primary Data Path via the TOC servers is part of this activity and a minor (5 to 10 minutes) service interruption via primary path and secondary is anticipated.  This may get bumped up earlier in time if a CWD is anticipated, so as to NOT interfere with NWS operations.

NWS IS STILL PLANNING Maintenance activities on 4/1/2017 in Silver Spring that has the potential to cause NL2 operational service issues with the TDS (for 12 hours).  ROC Engineering will be rolling the AGGREGATE function to Norman before the event as a risk mitigation strategy to reduce the impacts to this planned maintenance activity. I'm just trying to give everyone a heads-up.  Users should expect intermittent issues with the TDS feed.

 NWS IS ALSO PLANNING Maintenance activities on 4/8/2017 in Boulder, CO that will likely cause operational service issues with the RDS (Duration TBD).  The ROC will be rolling the AGGREGATE function back to Silver Spring before as a risk mitigation strategy to reduce the impacts to this planned maintenance activity as well. Users should expect intermittent issues with the RDS feed. 

 All system upgrades are subject to NCEP Critical Weather Day notification.
