Sounds like McIDAS could be useful to you.

I will leave comments about TeraScan to Greg since JOSS is an active user.

The status from what I know is that Darren Gallant has written some
code that allows conversion of TeraScan-produced HDF output of
calibrated image values (e.g., temperature for IR channels; albedo for
VIS) into McIDAS AREA format. Greg and/or Darren can fill you in on
details.
