In response to vulnerabilities in the log4j library, the THREDDS development team has released new versions of the TDS 4.6.x and 5.x. TDS 4.6.19 and TDS 5.3 user log4j 2.17.0, and address CVE-2021-44228, CVE-2021-45046, and CVE-2021-45105.
The Unidata THREDDS development ream released netCDF-Java 5.5.1 on December 20th, 2021. In addition to several bug fixes and dependency upgrades, this is the first version of netCDF-Java that has read support for the Zarr data model. The Unidata THREDDS Development Team released an updated version of the THREDDS Data Server (TDS) (and bundled netCDF-Java/Common Data Model (CDM) library) on December 10th, 2021. This release addresses a severe third party library security vulnerability. TDS 4.6.x administrators are encouraged to upgrade to version 4.6.18.
The THREDDS Data Server (TDS) version 5.2 release was announced on December 10th, 2021. This is a minor release that addresses a severe third party library security vulnerability.
Users of the THREDDS Data Server (TDS) are strongly encouraged to update the configuration files on their servers as soon as possible, and before they next restart their servers. Changes in the UCAR/Unidata web infrastructure will cause Web Map Service (WMS) features provided by the TDS to behave incorrectly.
Users of the Integrated Data Viewer (IDV) are encouraged to update their installations to version 6.0 or later as soon as possible. Changes in the UCAR/Unidata web infrastructure may cause earlier versions of the IDV to perform sluggishly.

The Unidata THREDDS Development Team released version 5.4.2 of the netCDF-Java/Common Data Model (CDM) library on August 27th, 2020. The 5.4.2 includes various bug fixes, dependency upgrades (some related to security), build/doc infrastructure changes, and updates/improvements to GRIB reading capabilities.
Version 1.1.0 of MetPy, a collection of tools in Python for reading, visualizing, and performing calculations with weather data, has been released. The project aims to mesh well with the rest of the scientific Python ecosystem, including the Numpy, Scipy, and Matplotlib projects, adding functionality specific to meteorology. This release includes a variety of new features and enhancements, as well a variety of fixes for issues encountered by users.
