MetPy Mondays

The popular MetPy Mondays series returns for a 15-episode run in 2026, with new episodes released every other week. The series provides short, focused tutorials on using the MetPy Python package for meteorological data analysis and visualization.

Welcome Summer Intern Tara Staresinic

Tara Staresinic

Tara Staresinic joined the NSF Unidata Program Center as a student summer intern on May 18, 2026. This fall, Tara will be a senior at Penn State University, majoring in Meteorology and Atmospheric Science and minoring in computational science and German.

Welcome Summer Intern Sarah Ravellette

Sarah Ravellette

Sarah Ravellette joined the NSF Unidata Program Center as a student summer intern on May 18, 2026. This fall, Sarah will be a senior at the University of California, Berkeley, where she is pursuing a degree in Atmospheric Science.

Advisory Committee News

NSF Unidata's Users Committee and Strategic Advisory Committee met in a series of virtual meetings in March and April 2026. During a joint session, the committees ratified plans to change to a new advisory committee structure that will reorganize and streamline committee functions while broadening the range of community expertise represented. Implementation of the new structure will take place over the summer and fall of 2026; stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
