The NSF Unidata THREDDS development team released the THREDDS Data Server (TDS) version 5.9 on July 13th, 2026. This release contains a number of security upgrades to third party libraries, a variety of bug fixes, and several new features and improvements.

The series provides short, focused tutorials on using the MetPy Python package for meteorological data analysis and visualization. July episodes covered accessing and plotting NEXRAD Level 3 and NEXRAD Level 2 data.

NSF Unidata staff, long-time contributors, and community members interested in UDUNITS met to discuss the project's future, including ongoing technical development, coordination efforts, and the long-term sustainability of the package.
