AI in Education Series - Introduction

What questions do you have about AI in education? 2026 NSF Unidata Summer Intern Tara Staresinic has published the first post in her AI in Education series, sharing a student's perspective on AI, sustainability, ethics, and practical ideas for the classroom.
TDS version 5.9 released

The NSF Unidata THREDDS development team released the THREDDS Data Server (TDS) version 5.9 on July 13th, 2026. This release contains a number of security upgrades to third party libraries, a variety of bug fixes, and several new features and improvements.
MetPy Mondays

The popular MetPy Mondays series continues into July 2026, with new episodes released every other week. The series provides short, focused tutorials on using the MetPy Python package for meteorological data analysis and visualization. July episodes covered accessing and plotting NEXRAD Level 3 and NEXRAD Level 2 data.

UDUNITS-2 Community Call

NSF Unidata hosted its first UDUNITS Community Call on July 22, 2026. NSF Unidata staff, long-time contributors, and community members interested in UDUNITS met to discuss the project's future, including ongoing technical development, coordination efforts, and the long-term sustainability of the package.
