The usual (semi-humorous, semi-serious) response to suggestions
like this among the VisAD developers is "let me know when you've
got it working". It sounds like a good idea. If you're the person
who needs it and the person who best understands exactly what it
is you're suggesting (I don't completely understand), then you're
the best person to do it. We would be very happy to add it a link
from the VisAD web page or perhaps even add it to the system
(typically in its own package).
