I just imported a file (the images.nc example) and switched among all of its display modes (3D, 2D and J2D) without any Exception. Either there is something or special about your file, or have you modified any SpreadSheet classes? The Exception indicates that a ScalarMap is being re-used, when it should be replaced by a different, identical ScalarMap.
