Thanks, Christian and everyone! I do hope that my next position will be as
challenging, and as enjoyable as this one was.

Hi Gilbert,

Same for me, I always appreciated so much your contributions and discussions
with the community here. I never thought about your position being cut, it is a
sad surprise...
I hope you will find a new position in the very near future, and that it will
be very satisfying and challenging!

Thank you so much for the kind words. Although I am sad my time is ending here,
I am now looking elsewhere to see if anyone else would appreciate someone who
can do this, and a lot more. Although I was far from perfect, I gave it my best
shot, and have been grateful to serve all of you.

Gilbert,

Your efforts cannot be thanked enough. You are a true example of what is
possible when the community is engaged. I thank you for allowing me to run
GEMPAK and answering shell questions many many years ago...in addition to
helping be jumpstart LDM on atlas. You are part of the reason I am now involved
with Unidata.

FYI LDMers, there is an alternate feed from NIU now that I am in the department
(atlas.niu.edu<http://atlas.niu.edu>), and I’d be happy to add allows for
anyone interested. No NOAAport, but we are on a 10 GB/s connection. Woohoo!

Best,

Hello everyone,

It has been a pleasure to serve the UNIDATA community over the last 20 years
here at NIU Weather.
However, due to budget cuts, I regret that my position has been eliminated,
and everything will be shut down on March 31, 2018. Please find alternate relay
servers
for NOAAport, level 2 radar, etc, from those who feed from me at
weatherX.admin.niu.edu<http://weatherX.admin.niu.edu>.

I thank all of those who put time and effort in to help me with
McIDAS, LDM, WXP, GEMPAK, and system administration questions
and concerns over the years. And I profusely thank UNIDATA for
all their help over the years in that regard, Steve Chizwell,
Steve Emmerson, Tom Yoksas, Dan Vietor, and many others...
thank you. To my upstream sites: David Wojtowicz, Pete Pokrandt,
and too many to count across the country...thank you for letting
me feed from all of you over these many years. It has been a
terrific run, and few can say they have had the privilege and honor
to interact or work with the caliber of people I have had the pleasure to
work with over the years. I'd love to continue doing this
for someone else full time, but we'll see what time and effort will bring!

Have a great day, and thank you again to everyone here who has
helped me, even in some very small way. It means more to me
than you know!

May all your winds be fair...no, wait. May all your cyclones
bomb to 930 MB, with a raging blizzard and thundersnow that
would cause Jim Cantore to cry on-air!
