What version are you running? You should try to install 6.13.5. That version 
comes with its own logger.

I am having an issue doing ./configure with a new LDM install. At the end of 
the configuration it is showing:

checking for system logging daemon... configure: error: system logging daemon 
not running

I did confirm that rsyslogd was running.
