Just a guess here Keith try running configure as such
./configure –enable-logging=local0

Subject: [ldm-users] Problem with LDM Configure.

I am having an issue doing ./configure with a new LDM install. At the end of 
the configuration it is showing:

checking for system logging daemon... configure: error: system logging daemon 
not running

I did confirm that rsyslogd was running.
