The more I play the more I like ..
the 'wasReceived' is just the ticket
beats the perl script I fumbled together ..

on a side note  ...
found out had to re-add my edits to the plotMetrics script..
all of a sudden, well exactly the same time I upgraded to 6.9,
my Metrics graphics stopped updating..
had to dig the gnuplot user guide back out...
