I have sounding data from a field project that I would like to plot with IDV. Is this possible? I've imported text files as point data before, but how do I format them so that IDV imports them as soundings? Is there an example somewhere of the format I need?
From the page: http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/idv/docs/userguide/data/DataSources.htmlit list the formats for sounding data. The only text format that is supported is the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) format. However, I'm guessing you have the NCAR Aspen text format which is not supported. If you can use Aspen to output to the netCDF upsonde/dropsonde format, that should work even though it's not listed in the page above.
