Also – if you wish to just remake a *_gf program without touching anything
else, after the previous changes were made and added to the gemlib archive you
can

cd $GEMPAK/programs/gd/gdplot3 (or other gd program)
make clean
make programs_gf

and “make” will automatically compile a new _gf program in $GEMEXE (it will not
make it in the $GEMPAK/programs/gd/gdplot3 dir).

If you want just a new gdplot3 program (or similar), after make clean just do
a make and it will compile the new program into the $GEMPAK/programs/gd/gdplot3
dir (in which you will have to manually copy it to the $GEMEXE dir)

Hi All,

Just in case it's helpful, here are all 8 of the Y2K21 changes to the central
time routines (in ti and tg libraries) that NCEP/NCO changed back in v7.6.0 --
and which you will presumably see in an upcoming Unidata distribution (although
that's up to them):

.../gempak/source/gemlib/fortran_wrappers/cticcnt.c *
.../gempak/source/gemlib/tg/tgyymd.f  *
.../gempak/source/gemlib/ti/ctiyyyy.c
.../gempak/source/gemlib/ti/ticcnt.f
.../gempak/source/gemlib/ti/tidtm4.f  *
.../gempak/source/gemlib/ti/tiyy24.f
.../gempak/source/gemlib/ti/tiyymd.f  *
.../gempak/source/gemlib/ti/tiyyyy.f

Note: The 4 files marked with an asterisk (*) above have comment changes only
(because they already had date-specific comments from earlier Y2K windowing; in
retrospect, we should probably have just removed those comments or at least
made them date neutral, since they are 'commenting' on the
implementation/behavior of an underlying routine to which they should be
oblivious!)

None of the above files has further changed (in our NAWIPS) since v7.6.0

Later for everyone's convenience, I will post the changes we plan to roll out
today internally (and to our Unidata contact), all but one of which are already
listed below.

Hi Robert,

I found them by searching for century....

In tiyyyy.f it is the first condition I have put in bold text (I have put 50):
C
C*              Check for new century.
C
                   IF ( cent1 .ne. cent2 ) THEN
                                i = 1
                                found = .false.
                       DO WHILE ( .not. found )
                                   IF ( timin ( i ) ( 1:2 ) .gt. '50' ) THEN
                                                found = .true.
                                                IF ( i .gt. ( ntime / 2 ) ) THEN
                                                   down  = .true.
                                                   imove = ntime - i + 1
                                                 ELSE
                                                   down  = .false.
                                                   imove = i - 1
                                                END IF
                                     ELSE
                                                i = i + 1
                                                IF ( i .gt. ntime ) RETURN
                                   END IF
                                END DO

and in ctiyyyy.c about the same (in bold text with the 50):
/*
 *  Check for new century.

                if ( strcmp(cent1, cent2) != 0 ) {
                   ii = 0;

Hi all,

I have modified the following files:
./gemlib/fl/flmnam.f
./gemlib/ti/tiyy24.f
./gemlib/ti/ticcnt.f
./gemlib/im/imnohd.f
./gplt/transform/mcidas/mcnav.f
./gemlib/ti/ctiyyyy.c
./gemlib/ti/tiyyyy.f

I did
make distclean
make all
make install
to be sure that all programs have been recompiled.

All things work as expected now.

Best regards,

This was a very very simple matter .... if you have already performed the
changes previously outlined... but you may need to do the following for all the
dc progs you use. If you DON?T do this, filenames created by a dc prog will
start with 1921 vs 2021 for current data and may impact some of your scripts.

cd $GEMPAK/source/programs/dc/<name of decoder> (example cd

make clean
make
cp <name of decoder> $GEMEXE  (example cp dcwstm $GEMEXE)

Greetings all. For those using gdradr you will need to recompile this
as well after making the changes Tom outlined. Here are the steps which take a
total of less than 5 minutes.

1. cp $GEMEXE/gdradr $GEMEXE/gdradr.orig 2. cd
$GEMPAK/source/programs/gd/gdradr 3. make clean 4. make 5. cp gdradr $GEMEXE

TOM Y - please include this in any patch you create.

Thanks for the information!

Based on David and Larry's input, I modified:

.../gemlib/fl/flmnam.f
.../gemlib/im/imnohd.f

This was in addition to having already made changes to:

.../gemlib/ti/tiyy24.f
.../gemlib/ti/ticcnt.f
.../gemlib/ti/tiyyyy.f
.../gemlib/ti/ctiyyyy.c

Before making the changes to:

.../gemlib/fl/flmnam.f
.../gemlib/im/imnohd.f

I had tried rebuilding the entire package from scratch to no avail.
After making the changes to these two files, I simply rebuilt the object files,
updated them in $GEMLIB/gemlib.a, and then remade the nex2gini and nexrcomp
executables and installed them in $GEMEXE.

I now see that properly named composites are being created and inserted into
the LDM queue for dissemination. Whether or not the files are fully viable is
TBD.

Larry and David: Many thanks for the help!

Cheers,

Tom
