Hello again,
As many of you have already seen, these changes were delayed from their
original timelines but took effect for GOES-16 yesterday at 18Z.
A new SCN just came out with additional details of this transition for both
GOES-East and GOES-West:

A few important notes about these changes:
1. GOES-West implementation is scheduled for January 4th (no time listed)
2. These changes for both GOES-East AND GOES-West will temporarily be
rolled back between Jan. 31 and Mar. 6
3. On or about March 6th, these changes will be "reinstated permanently."
The justification for these changes remains the same, essentially that
removal of these products will reduce the bandwidth used on NOAAPort/SBN.
However, for those needing Southern Hemispheric GOES imagery there are a
few options:
1. ADDE feeds: Unidata makes available the full resolution Full-Disk
imagery over the ADDE feeds EAST/EASTALL and WEST/WESTALL.
2. IDD feeds:
- Unidata also makes available the full resolution Full-Disk imagery
on the SATELLITE (formerly DIFAX) IDD feed. Details, including example
pattern-actions, can be found here:

- Additional Full-Disk imagery is available on the UNIWISC feed. The
difference here is bands 2, 8 and 13 (and only those bands) have been
rescaled to 4km; finer than SBN's 6km resolution but coarser than full
resolution (500m, 2km and 2km respectively). This may be a good
compromise
for those seeking S.Hemi data while needing to conserve
bandwidth. Details
