I see you are trying to build netCDF-4 on a MacOS.

I wonder if you really want netCDF-4 yet? It is in beta release, and perhaps
you want 3.6.2, the latest netCDF release.

But, assuming you do want netCDF-4, there is no reason it should not build for
you on a Mac. Start with the netCDF-4 snapshot:

Note that I am working on some issues that we recently introduced tests for. In
other words, not all tests may pass for you. But let see if we can first get it
to build before looking at test output.

This snapshot works with the HDF5 snapshot release available on the netCDF-4
snapshot web page. Note that HDF5 1.8.0 is in beta release, and is in a state
of flux. The current netCDF snapshot works with the HDF5 release on the
netCDF-4 snapshot page, and probably not any other HDF5 release.

Specifically, we still do not work with the HDF5 beta4 release. There are some
HDF5 issues we are working out before that we upgrade to that HDF5 release.

Install netCDF-4 according to instructions here:

Note that you must install zlib and HDF5 first (both are available from the
netCDF-4 snapshot page).

If the build doesn't work, please let me know.

If "make all" works, but some of the "make check" tests fail, you can still
begin to play with the netCDF-4 library. As I mentioned above, I am currently
working on some fixes to the library which will cause these tests to pass.
