20000208: Creating a GEMPAK mapfile

Bernard,

Put your map data into the same format as the $GEMMAPS/ascii files
as described by $GEMMAPS/ascii/mapfiles.doc, then compile 
$GEMMAPS/programs/ssfgsf and run the program to
produce a direct access version of the map file and place in the $GEMMAPS
directory. The map file will be specific to the byte order of the
machine you produce the file on. If you have both Linux (little endian) and 
HP (big endian), then you will have to run ssfgsf on both platforms
to create the respective versions.

To add the mapfile to the GARP menu, you will have to edit the
$GARPHOME/tables/maplist.tbl file and add the appropriate entry.
