Hello,

I've put this inquiry into our ticketing system so we can keep it documented.

We haven't ever installed CAVE on a cloud platform since my team has started
working here, but I don't think I've run into the issue. What does your
hostname look like?

I haven't heard of an issue like that, but maybe it's different because of the
cloud aspect? When I run "hostname" on my linux machine, I get the FQDN
(hardy.unidata.ucar.edu), not the shortname and am able to run CAVE just fine.

Have you reached out to anyone at NWS's OSTI or MDL? They've been running CAVE
from AWS I believe.

Thanks,
