Physical Scientist, Environmental Modeling Center

NOAA is searching for a Physical Scientist (Development) to work at the National Weather Service (NWS), National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), Environmental Modeling Center (EMC) in College Park, MD.

A Physical Scientist:

• Develops, transitions, and maintains numerical models and associated computer-based technologies to improve NCEP Environmental Modeling Center (EMC) environmental forecasts and services.
• Leads staff in multiple locations to prepare, coordinate with external partners, and present numerical model research and development activities.
• Oversees the consistency and transition of techniques and research to operations (R2O) of pre-processing and quality control of environmental observation data, and post-processing and quality control of numerical forecast guidance products.
